Calling All Heroes

One good thing that has come from the pandemic is that lots of people have opened their homes to dogs. It's great for humans, of course, because pups are amazing lockdown pals, and it's wonderful for these four-legged friends because so many of them have found forever families. But just like people, puppies thrive on socialization. And when they are cooped up inside, not meeting new people or going to new places, they miss a key part of their puppy development. They might become overly afraid of noises, bark often, and nip at people or things.

New owners often don't know what to do when behavior problems get this big so they tend to eventually give up their new pets to rescues like ours. Here at Triangle Sheltie Rescue of North Carolina, we have two amazing puppies that are working through some confidence issues. Kassie, Grace, and Blaney are sweet and gorgeous shelties that have been making great strides with their wonderful foster families. But, as you can expect, they are exhibiting those extreme anxieties and fear in new situations and we need an expert's help to guide them.

For now, we do not feel that we can place these puppies in a new home until they work out these issues with a behaviorist. As you can imagine, this will put a huge strain on our resources. Each puppy will need at least 14 days of boarding and training, which will cost us $60 per day, per dog. Our hope is to raise $1,680 to cover the cost.

Can you help? You can donate to us directly and, as always, thank you so much for your support. But we now have a fun new way of supporting our cause for these puppies and our other Shelties in need:
