Tobys Personality & Progress 1/5/2026
Toby is a sweet, playful boy who is truly blossoming in his foster home. While he has a silly sideoften found playing tug with his foster siblings or "borrowing" his foster moms neck pillow for a nap.
Socialization & Home Life
Toby is a "ladys man" and shows a clear preference for women. He is currently a bit aloof and tends to seek affection on his own terms; while he will come to his foster mom when hes ready for attention, he generally avoids contact with other human household members for now. He could possibly be an only dog for the right adopterwho understands his need for engagement and an abundance of patience.
Toby can be wary of strangers and may bark or retreat when new people visit, so hell need a family that will let him move at his own pace. Please note that Toby has not been behaviorally tested around cats while in our care.
Training & Routine
Toby has made incredible strides with his house training! He has mastered the use of a dog door and thrives on a consistent routine. While his leash skills are still a work in progress, enrolling in formal training classes will be a wonderful way for Toby to bond with his new ownerand help him become the ideal house companion. This structured environment will build his confidence and strengthen his connection with his person.
Crate & Safety
Food appears to have been limited in Tobys past life, making him very food-motivated and a bit anxious. Because he associates being crated with mealtime or receiving treats, he can get "wound up"barking and spinning in anticipationwhen meal prep begins or when he is being confined. He does best when he can follow a stable, established routine. A securely fenced yard is essential for Toby, as it has been a key factor in his house-training success and provides him a safe space to zoom and play.
The Ideal Match
Toby is looking for a quiet, patient homeideally with a fenced yard and at least one playmatewhere he can continue to grow at his own speed. If you are looking for a devoted companion and are willing to respect his boundaries as he learns to trust, Toby is ready to reward you with a lifetime of love. |
