Dog Olympics
2000
Triangle Sheltie Rescue set
up shop on October 8, 2000 as part of the NCSU College of Veterinary
Medicine's Dog Olympics. TSR raised over $120 of donations at the
event.
The Dog Olympics featured
several events for everyday dogs, including a howling contest, the wiener
toss, the limbo and a Frisbee toss. Every breed was represented at
the Dog Olympics, from Dachshunds to Great Pyrenees, and even a few
Shelties.
TSR collected donations for
t-shirts, sweatshirts, notecards and the Garland of Shelties book.
Several volunteers came out to support the effort, including Angela
and Jeremy Simmons, Amy and Tom McGrath, Moreen Jacobsen, Louise
Glogau and Gloria Litzen. TSR staff included Dianne Hawes, Sherri
Mains and Mike Tickle. We were also able to meet some of our hard
working volunteers like Holly Schmidt-Davis and Martha Wilaby.
Special thanks go to Kevin Woolard of the NCSU CVM for inviting TSR to the event.
There were also a few
surprise visitors at the event. Rusty, who was adopted by Alice De
Luc, showed up, and Nate, adopted by Holly,
participated in a flyball demo.
Our newest addition, Rocky, was on the scene as well. Lisa Berger
received a call the next morning from someone who saw Rocky at the show
that day. She fell in love with Rocky and we have placed Rocky on a foster
to adopt contract in her home!
