I wish I
could come home to find you wagging, and barking,
Like you have every day of our life together.
Wish I could pick you up and feel you lick my face
Then wiggle your way back to the floor
And start the whole process over again.
To see you again, ears straight up watching me intently,
See your face light up when I ask the right questions.
Do you want to do your tricks?
Get the newspaper?
I wish I could give you just one more treat.
I miss you most in the morning,
When before opening my eyes, I’d feel you looking at me.
Feel the weight of your body settling down on my chest.
That lightening quick tongue giving me kisses,
Then you dashing off the bed demanding breakfast!
I have so many sweet memories of you.
At the beach, us dancing and jumping for joy, your many tricks.
You took such pride in learning to do something new,
For me, just to please me.
You are my Shine Fellow
My Trickster
Sure Licks a Lot!
My buddy, my friend
Always the ‘very unusual’ bi-black sheltie.
